A century ago, in May 1926, a groundbreaking international expedition successfully reached the last white spot on the map of the world.
The mission, led by the renowned explorers Roald Amundsen, Lincoln Ellsworth, Umberto Nobile, marked the first fully documented reaching of the North Pole.
On the 12th of May, 1926, the N1 Norge Expedition achieved the impossible.
Join us at the Museo storico dell’Aeronautica Militare (Airforce Museum), and the Umberto Nobile Documentation Center, beautifully framed by historic legacy, to celebrate the centennial of this magnificent achievement.

On May 11th 2026, step back in time at the Italian Air Force Museum, Vigna di Valle, on the beautiful Lake Bracciano, Rome. Join us for a private exploration of the Amundsen–Ellsworth–Nobile expedition through the archives of the Umberto Nobile Documentation Center and original period relics.

Experts, journalists, historians, and explorers will gather in a unique setting amid 1920s and 1930s aircraft, dirigible gondolas, and artifacts from the 1926 polar expedition, immersed in atmospheric lighting, soundscapes, and scenic video projections. On the shores of a splendid ancient lake within the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Natural Park.
Live remote contributions from the cities along the Norge’s route: museums, experts, and associations from Italy, France, England, Norway, Sweden, and USA. A production by an international team, in collaboration with the Italian Air Force, Umberto Nobile Documentation Center, Italian Geographical Society, Airship Association, and Museo Umberto Nobile of Lauro. Under the aegis of Hun in the Sun; MBVision design; organized by Goodgear, Swiss Euroasian Business Association, and OceanSky Cruises.

Aircraft Designer and aviation expert
Acclaimed designer with 30+ years of expertise in aeronautics, specializing in next-gen seaplanes and airships. As an author and founder of MBVision and co-founder of OceanSky Cruises, he has led global projects in 40 countries. Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2025, he is a pilot and lecturer bridging aviation history with future innovation.

Vincenzo Grienti
Journalist and aviation expert
Journalist and essayist specializing in history, currently serving as Deputy Editor-in-Chief at Tg2000. A former Rai author and contributor to the daily newspaper Avvenire, his work has been featured in prestigious publications including Nuova Storia Contemporanea, BBC History Italy, L’Osservatore Romano, Rivista Marittima, and Rivista Aeronautica. Author of over twenty books, he is an active member of the Italian Society of Military History.

A Portrait from
the Age of Airships
As part of this curated experience, the evening will be documented by French photographer Eric Gourlan, using an original early 1900s camera, continuing the legacy of the Norge 1926 expedition, the first audiovisually documented journey to the North Pole, by capturing timeless portraits of the setting and selected guests with the same historic technique.
Each guest will become part of a carefully crafted visual narrative, receiving a unique and authentic record of the experience, making the event not only memorable, but truly collectible.
